What is rhodium?
Rhodium is a rare and expensive metal from the platinum family, and is highly valued for its reflective properties, corrosion resistance, and is commonly used in jewellery electroplating to enhance appearance and durability.
x
Why does white gold need it?
White gold is naturally pale yellow or dull grey, so it is plated with rhodium to protect it and give it a bright white, sparkling finish that enhances the fire and brilliance of diamonds.

How often do my rings need to be rhodium plated?
We recommend visiting us for rhodium plating every 1 to 3 years, as wear varies based on factors like exposure to chemicals, daily wear, and frequent hand sanitizer use, all of which have been found to cause the rhodium to wear faster.
x
How long does it take?
We aim to turn all Rhodium work around within the week. The shortest period to be without your rings is to ensure they are dropped in by close of business on a Tuesday.

How much does it cost?
1 ring - £28 // 2 rings - £54 // 3 rings - £75

Can you rhodium plate yellow gold?
Yes. If you prefer white gold or platinum but fall for a yellow gold ring, rhodium plating can give it a bright white finish to match your metal preference. Although rhodium plating doesn’t wear faster on yellow gold, the richer underlying colour may make any wear more noticeable.

Rhodium Plating Disclaimer:
We have fixed prices for rhodium plating white gold rings, but quotes for white gold earrings, pendants, and bangles are given individually.
Please note that we generally avoid rhodium plating chains due to the intricate and time-consuming process, which can still end up resulting in a less consistent finish.
Our workshop will assess the security of any stones present in your rings and make you aware of any risks. If any stones fall out during the cleaning process, we can re-set them but there will be an additional charge.
Two-toned rings will be an extra £10 as the jeweller has to mask off the brighter coloured gold to protect it which takes longer.
